Discovering Rome

We went to Rome with a tour group from the ship.  It was a bit of a drive from the port of Cittavechia (sp?).  We first went to see St. Peter's Basilica that was AMAZING.  It was HUGH!  There was so much to see both inside and out.  Being the largest church in the world, it was truly memorable to walk through.  We also saw the Colosseum, which was interesting, but after seeing some of the other ruins (at Taormina and Pompeii), it wasn't as awe inspiring as we thought it might be.

We then had time to get a bite to eat, and David, Peggy, Craig and I stopped and ate at a little cafe down a small alley.  It was very good.  We tried the lasagna, pizza and salad - all good.  Then we went to see the Pantheon, and that was amazing also.  Outside it looks very old, but inside it looks like it was built yesterday.

We also visited the Trevi fountain, and it was mobbed.  Craig got down on one knee and proposed (again), so I hope that our pictures come out well.  We should have some good pictures that we will post later.  Craig has been shooting a lot of photos, but we just haven't had time to go through them all.  Most of the pictures posted are mine, and I've also taken a lot of video, but I'll have to post later.

Can you park any closer???

We are sad to be leaving the boat tomorrow.  The food has been amazing and wonderful and we have lots of pictures of food, cars, people, statues, etc.  More later.  Ciao!
